Nowadays a lot of people keep a pets that are very different: cats, dogs, insects, wild animals, birds and so on. But they must remember that it is very big responsibility.
People keep pets, because pets are funny and can make them smile or some people are just alone. But some are really needed in pet's help because they are disabled or want to protect themselves.
The most popular pets in big cities are cats, dogs and birds. All of them have different breed and can be big or small, strong or weak, lazy or active.
Of course, the keeping pets is a big responsibility, because we responsible for their actions and their health. Also, some of them can be disabled and people take care about their domestic animal.

Now, I don't keep any pets, but years ago I had 3 cats.

Well, I think that people keep pets for different reasons. Someone because alone among people, someone because domestic animal is a great friend and helper, someone because there were so circumstances. In general, the most popular pets are cats and dogs. It is possible to meet hamsters, mice, guinea pigs, parrots, canaries, fish and turtles slightly less often. It is even more rare snakes, spiders, cockroaches, snails or larger exotic animals (like ocelots and wolves). "We are responsible for those who tamed", so yes, a pet is a responsibility. It like a child always requires attention and proper care. I have two cats and, in fact, they create a lot of noise, but I still love them very much.

People keep pets for various reasons. Some people keep pets because of their physical attractiveness, some for their playfulness or other unique personalities and characteristics, while others keep pets for companionship.
Pets can help their owners relieve stress and loneliness. When you just got home from a long day of work feeling exhausted and stressed, there is that tail wager so very happy to see you.
Cats, dogs, hamsters and parrots are most popular pets in big cities. I'd like to say that I keep a parrot, its name is Kesha.
By the way, owning a pet a big responsibility because you need to treat them like a child , feed them, etc.
In conclusion, I would like to say that keeping pets is one of the best ways to deal with stress and loneliness.
